Yoga for BACK Healing

YOGA CLASSES TO Move better & feel BEtter

What would you do if You could move without Pain?

This class series approaches back pain as a beginning of a journey of discovery about your body and your potential. Learn about and work with your body to help you cultivate ease in movement.

We will work with strategies for strengthening, mobilising and supporting the body to move intelligently and freely.

Classes will be sequential, reflective and create space for students to access the material at their current level of movement, while offering opportunities to progress and grow throughout the course.

Handouts & guides offer chances to incorporate movement into your daily life in a manageable and helpful way. Goal setting and reflective prompts help you maintain what you have learned.

FROM 1 November - 6 December, Classes are Drop IN

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

A LIFETIME OF MOVEMENT

Mollie’s lifelong love of movement started with dance at age 3, and moved to yoga in her 20’s. But from age 13, she had persistent injuries, and incomplete guidance that hindered her.

From barely coping to flourishing through injury required detailed and creative yoga, strength building and somatic movement, imagery, mental strategies and biomechanical understanding through the Franklin Method.

Mollie wants to challenge the notion of exercise as being for the body, and other practices for the mind. Our whole life, from meditation or yoga, to parenting and working can be self-reflective and spiritual practices. Not because we light incense but because we light up our own awareness in the process.

Every injury Mollie has faced has been a catalyst for learning and change, greater healing and greater truth. She wants the same for you.

Let’s move through this together.

  • Learning about the sacrum in movement

    Understand your body

Explore some of the physical structures that contribute to back pain, to help them function better. We will explore bones, muscles, spinal discs, nerves and more as we cultivate awareness of our own body.

  • Get self-care tools

With short videos that you can use as movement snacks, and handouts and pointers for self practice, you will get new techniques to improve how you feel instantly - without needing an equipment.

  • Engage your whole self

We will use a variety of mental strategies, including goal setting, self-talk, imagery, self-observation and reflection, journaling, breath work, meditation and visualisation to support movement practice.

HOW IT WORKS:

LIVE Classes run ONCE a week ON A DROP IN BASIS
1 NovemBer - 6 December

You can join live, or in your own time.

  • Class is 45 minutes, pre-recorded, but shared live. In the live classes, we will play the recording, with Mollie present to give feedback and correction, and to pause for clarity or deeper instruction.

  • Access to the 45 minute recording (without live commentary) to use for follow up practice.

  • You will have 6 weeks to review the live commentary on the class, should you need it.

The course was well paced, thorough, engaging, insightful.

It gave me chances to engage with my body on a deeper level and helped put a lot of puzzle pieces together in terms of anatomy, terminology, visualisation as a tool for movement, injury prevention and listening to what your body is telling you.

Loved it!

JEN - USA

THis Course really helped me to become centered and grounded again.

I definitely felt more softness and openness within my body. I also noticed, that I listen even more to my body when I do my own home practice and engage more in intuitive movements and self-massage.

BRIGIT - Germany

But the extra unique piece that really differentiates it for me is this opportunity to discover my anatomy in a felt way,

which is like discovering MYSELF! And that is hugely relieving! It's like 'oh, there I am'!

There I am. Here I am! Right here. Right now. I think that is what prompts me to say 'I needed that'. I needed to feel MYSELF. Here. Now. Alive. Ok.

NATHALIE- UK

Mollie’s teaching is so unique. A breath of fresh air that offers a completely new perspective on yoga.

I love how it merges the mechanics (bones/anatomy) with consciousness. Making us stop to think about our invisible insides, while also entering our invisible higher power

FAQs

What if I cannot join live?

Each week you will get a 45 minute recording + the same class taught live, with feedback to students. You can choose which class to do. All students will be given a selection of pre-recorded short classes for you to do at your own pace. You will get a lot out of the course, but you will have to make your own time to go through the material.

What if I have a specific diagnosis?

In the beginning of the course, all students will have an opportunity to share information with the teacher, who will track individual concerns as much as possible. And all students will be advised how to explore their own pain. The course is about movement awareness so you may learn some reasons why you have the condition you do. And you will only be asked to do exercises at a range and to an extent that feels good in your body. So you will practice being your own guide through your experience.

Do I have to come to the same live session each week?

All students will get zoom links for Monday and Thursday Sessions. You can choose which session to attend each week.

Will I need any special equipment?

Some equipment will be helpful including: Franklin Method or similar exercise balls, Therabands or other elastic exercise bands or loops, a yoga brick or block and cushions, blankets or folded towels. A full equipment list will be sent when you book.

What is the class style?

Live classes will include a warm-up with a physical embodiment, some strengthening and conditioning exercises that repeat, and flowing release movements. Shorter movement snack videos will vary in content and will include some strength based sessions, some embodiment practices, and some restful awareness practices.
Classes will not be “vinyasa flow” style, with series of big yoga poses, one after another.

What is a movement snack?

Sometimes when we are hungry, we only need a piece of fruit, or few crackers. Movement is the same. We don’t always need a full 1 hour class, sometimes we just need to break up the day with a little movement snack.
