 ~ Improvisation and movement exploration
for self care and self practice ~

Part 1 of this workshop focuses on finding new ways to practice that avoids the 5 sun salutation A & B paradigm. We will look at ways to increase flexibility, strength and heat in the body using dynamic asana (like in kundalini yoga), playful explorations, dancelike flows and imagery. We will look at ways to free your movement, but still keep a structure to your practice, with specific work on personal injuries or goals. Liberate and re-inspire your practice, make it feel nourishing and responsive to your body’s needs alongside your teaching.

 ~ Meditative movement and embodiment
for more creative teaching ~

Part 2 focuses on the qualities of intelligent asana choreography and meditative movement within your vinyasa flow yoga classes, and the benefits of these practices for the body. We will explore new ways to transition into and between yoga poses using non-linear patterns, guided anatomical imagery and free movement. Discussion and exploration of the types of language and instruction that help students of all levels successfully navigate these moments of space will help you feel confident to incorporate these new possibilities into your teaching.
